A committee in the US House of Representatives voted on July 13, 2011 to kill the James Webb Space Telescope program. This is slated to be the successor to Hubble Space Telescope, and it is crucial to astronomy research in the coming decades. Congress voted on November 17 to restore full funding to the program for 2012, but we’re likely to see the issue resurface more than once before the telescope flies. Show your support!
